Hope all has been well with you guys. Im here today to tell you what I did yesterday. In my small town we hold a wooden boat show each year. This was the 6th one, I believe. Its the second time I participated as a vendor. Everything you sell must be nautical in nature. Its a fun day, with about 30 vendors, kids boat making and a little pond they can float them on afterwards, a chowder cookoff, and of course plenty of beautiful handmade wooden boats on display.<br />
I will show you a bit of what I was doing there yesterday. My booth is an ever growing/changing concept for me as I am always striving for that "perfect" display. It can be infuriating at times, but also fun to see how it comes out each time. To any of my new friends that I met at the boat show, welcome to my blog! To all my old faithful friends, glad to see ya~<br />
Now for some photos~<br />

Most of the year. But I am still here, and still doing what I love. I have done a few craft shows this year since September, and I am about to do one on Saturday, up in Topsail Beach, North Carolina. Its in a wonderful little church, and it will be the third or fourth year Sharon and I are vendors in this show. I have cut back this year on my paper goods for the shows, as I find my jewelry and Mason Jars sell a lot better.<br />
Some of my charm jewelry can be found in my Etsy Shop~ which now has a new name~~ Artful Fairy. If you scroll down a bit and look in my left hand sidebar, you can see whats for sale there, and click right on the link, and it will take you there! For the months of November and December, I will be donating all of the proceeds from my shop to an Orphan in Asia with Down Syndrome. So if you need a really cute gift for someone, please take a look. Your purchase will be helping a sweet little girl find her forever family.<br />
For now, a peak of some of my Mason Jars. They are a shabby chic style, and people just love em!<br />

<br />
Here is a peak at a card I made for a special little girl who lives in Colorado. She is turning 3 and when kids are little, I often like to use their special number somewhere on the card. Its fun for them, and a card that may be one that goes into a special keepsake box, or perhaps a scrapbook page. <br />
The cute paper with the pandas on it is from a kids paper pack I have had for a long while. I think it may be DCWV?<br />
The number 3 is made with a PTI die out of scrap orange cardstock.<br />
The sweet little asian girl is a stamp from Sister Stamps. Her name is Miyoko. I purchased this stamp at All That Scraps online store. I have shopped there for a long time, and have always been pleased.<br />
Isnt she so cute holding a little birthday cupcake?<br />
She is colored in with Copics, and cut out with Spellbinders oval dies.<br />

For some reason, I cannot load any photos onto this blog! What is a craft blog, or almost any other type, without photos??<br />
Can anyone help out there?Theresa Dagostino Forgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15923460546721715999noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7975741520881483082.post-30974059248428714642013-01-06T15:17:00.003-05:002013-01-06T15:17:50.081-05:00A NEW BEGINNINGHappy New Year to all my friends and followers. I hope this new year brings renewed hope and blessings beyond measure. I for one, am quite happy to see 2012 go away.<br />
It was a very rough year for my family, as we had to say goodbye to a wonderful Man, my Dad. I know he is in a better place, and take solace in that, but we still miss him dearly. We laugh and talk about him all the time, which is great.<br />
Quite honestly, I didnt feel like blogging much this fall. After what happened, I felt like what I had to say was silly and trivial. But with a new year, and renewed spirit, I am back. I hope to continue to bring you a little laugh, something pretty to look at, and maybe a tip or two.<br />
Thanks for sticking with me, I appreciate it.Theresa Dagostino Forgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15923460546721715999noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7975741520881483082.post-61909603151231460502012-10-20T23:17:00.001-04:002012-10-20T23:17:32.139-04:00YARD SALE SATURDAY~ VINTAGE EDITIONHey all~ back with another installation of yard sale saturday! <br />
Here is what came home with me this week!!<br />
Let me say that this one was both outside and in the house. I can usually find some older, vintagey stuff at these kind of sales. And this one was no exception~<br />
First up, some old kids books from the mid 1950's. I just adore the illustrations in these old books! And I also like the sometimes scribbling I find from previous little owners~<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SEh1t_q0Tlg/UINlNLSNbLI/AAAAAAAACQs/AUIJKFGmoDA/s1600/IMG_1635.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SEh1t_q0Tlg/UINlNLSNbLI/AAAAAAAACQs/AUIJKFGmoDA/s320/IMG_1635.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
A vintage brooch that looks like a snowflake.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vn-U3APKmHk/UINmSHX8gLI/AAAAAAAACQ0/nr2iuwPznpk/s1600/IMG_1637.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vn-U3APKmHk/UINmSHX8gLI/AAAAAAAACQ0/nr2iuwPznpk/s320/IMG_1637.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Some beautiful ladies, and a little Dutch girl from Occupied Japan...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c631xMmfozw/UINnDjmzKqI/AAAAAAAACRA/fxibz8uTF6c/s1600/IMG_1647.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c631xMmfozw/UINnDjmzKqI/AAAAAAAACRA/fxibz8uTF6c/s320/IMG_1647.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
An old milk bottle and a tub of old buttons...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zlg60pjXtUo/UINnqg0qrtI/AAAAAAAACRQ/kvJwTYj_0IY/s1600/IMG_1638.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zlg60pjXtUo/UINnqg0qrtI/AAAAAAAACRQ/kvJwTYj_0IY/s320/IMG_1638.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
And lastly, a little girl cabinet card, and a new Batik journal in a pretty blue with turtles all over it. Living by the ocean as I do, and being that this community is vey active in saving the turtles and their nests, I am surprised that this journal wasnt snatched up the minute the doors were opened.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EBX98fUUg8Y/UINoMc2jXjI/AAAAAAAACRY/PcfWNyzWlxU/s1600/IMG_1651.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EBX98fUUg8Y/UINoMc2jXjI/AAAAAAAACRY/PcfWNyzWlxU/s320/IMG_1651.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>

This girl was in her glory!<br />

R08, R20, G24. E40, E53, E17, E000, E11,<br />

Honestly, I would rather shop at yard sales than the mall~<br />
My husband and I both say its our favorite time of the week! Its the beginning of the weekend, we get to spend some time together, we bargain hunt, and then go and get breakfast before we head home with our treasures. We pretty much laugh the whole time, and we dont want it to end.<br />
First up today was a community wide sale not far form our house, and boy did we score big here! I would guess that about 20 homes participated, and many of them you could walk from one to the other. <br />
Hi all! I am now back from my not so little hiatus. It was a busy summer, and a sad one. My Dad passed away after a long illness at the beginning of the summer. Something like that surely takes the wind right out of your sails. Besides many other things, I had lost my creativity. I would go into the art studio and kinda just sit there. <br />
I also spent much of the rest of the summer in New York, where I am orginally from, spending time with my Mom, and my oldest son who lives there also. I also got to spend some nice time with all of my extended family. My daughter actually stayed there with her Nana, for about 2 months. This good family time was great for all of us. We brought Nana back home with us when we left NYC. She stayed for 2 weeks and had a nice time. Some fresh ocean air is good for the soul.<br />
Now that fall is upon us, I am back to crafting. And like the photo above, I want to thank all of you for sticking with me.<br />
This was a card I made for a good family friend. It was the first time I made this type of card, and saw the tutorial on a Whiff Of Joy blog post a few months back. I used a Magnolia image, Basic Grey papers and Copics of course. The top two sentiments are from Stampin Up Sets. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uzoDfTi5e7o/UGsYEXU6ZMI/AAAAAAAACNs/j3EtukQOpOo/s1600/IMG_1557.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uzoDfTi5e7o/UGsYEXU6ZMI/AAAAAAAACNs/j3EtukQOpOo/s320/IMG_1557.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This photo shows the card with all the tiers unopened.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oW-QLRTim9k/UGsYfc3HeSI/AAAAAAAACN0/gjjjHIS7vnk/s1600/IMG_1556.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oW-QLRTim9k/UGsYfc3HeSI/AAAAAAAACN0/gjjjHIS7vnk/s320/IMG_1556.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I wrote her a message on the back of the card, although if you write rather small, you could do it on one of the pull ups.<br />
Many thanks for stopping by...<br />

I am presently out of town for a bit, but I promise

Many thanks for stopping by....Theresa Dagostino Forgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15923460546721715999noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7975741520881483082.post-84592546187508581082012-07-17T00:08:00.001-04:002012-07-17T00:11:04.814-04:00Secrets Of The Sea<br />
<br />
I have just finished my tags for a swap by Red Lead of St. Louis. I love to shop online with them, and would love to one day visit their store. They love vintage, as I do, so maybe its better I dont live anywhere near St. Louis. Well, anyhow, they talked about another swap, this time the subject being the sea. Since I live in a beach and river community, I was instantly intrigued~<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4JQl1c4kW-c/UATh-EFjDzI/AAAAAAAACMk/l0VMQ6P_5MI/s1600/IMG_1006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4JQl1c4kW-c/UATh-EFjDzI/AAAAAAAACMk/l0VMQ6P_5MI/s320/IMG_1006.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I have participated in swaps before, but not for quite a while. Sometimes I got great stuff in return, but there were times the stuff I received was frankly- junk. I even got some clearance stuff from Big Lots when everything was to be hand made. But I knew that this was to be a good one~ or at least I hope so. You had to make 3 tags with a rather large size tag, something like 4 1/2 by 8. You needed to use at least one of their stamps, and hopefully, also a collage sheet image.<br />
I decided to make 4, so I could keep one of mine for me! I made each a little different. <br />
Here they are~<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EyjgIz9fMNQ/UATjG-xsM9I/AAAAAAAACMs/b4EWuI8d6G4/s1600/IMG_1029.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="208" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EyjgIz9fMNQ/UATjG-xsM9I/AAAAAAAACMs/b4EWuI8d6G4/s320/IMG_1029.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I think they turned out great. I used some Artisan Inks and some air brush inks for the backgrounds. I wet the tags, and then spritzed the colors on with reckless abandon~ LOL! When dry, I stamped my images, then added the collage sheet pictures, which are adorable by the way, and added random embellishments. <br />
I Love the tiny pom pom trim on the bottom of each tag. I dont remember where I got it, but I have been hoarding it for a long time! Dont worry- I still have some left!<br />
This is the tag I kept for myself~<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cgAqvPZraBg/UATkOs8qSSI/AAAAAAAACM0/BrCT33Y8Vjg/s1600/IMG_1016.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cgAqvPZraBg/UATkOs8qSSI/AAAAAAAACM0/BrCT33Y8Vjg/s320/IMG_1016.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Here are the next three~<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iwVb9WREB-U/UATkeVfmn_I/AAAAAAAACM8/T00hGKS2VfA/s1600/IMG_1021.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iwVb9WREB-U/UATkeVfmn_I/AAAAAAAACM8/T00hGKS2VfA/s320/IMG_1021.JPG" width="197" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I love the doily tucked in behind the little girl!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BhFzn9C2_JA/UATku8IfomI/AAAAAAAACNE/I_sdpRtnumU/s1600/IMG_1023.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BhFzn9C2_JA/UATku8IfomI/AAAAAAAACNE/I_sdpRtnumU/s320/IMG_1023.JPG" width="203" /></a></div>
<br />
And finally~<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yOtTyAq-JoY/UATlAJ_IURI/AAAAAAAACNQ/HFWbl7o2eFI/s1600/IMG_1002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yOtTyAq-JoY/UATlAJ_IURI/AAAAAAAACNQ/HFWbl7o2eFI/s320/IMG_1002.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Well, there they are, I will show you guys what comes my way as soon as they get here.<br />
Keep your fingers crossed for me~<br />
Many thanks for stopping by...<br />

While vintage style is my favorite, and I had many vintage cooking ideas in my head, when I saw these bright , cheerful colors in Michaels, I had to go with them. I thought they looked very summer-like, and the pattrerned paper was really cute. So my vintage will wait for another month.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QduLQOHBgwk/UACOM3YxxvI/AAAAAAAACLg/4x9JodpGQIM/s1600/IMG_1375.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QduLQOHBgwk/UACOM3YxxvI/AAAAAAAACLg/4x9JodpGQIM/s320/IMG_1375.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
We also went old school as far as hand cutting out all the images~ no Cricut used here! Since the images are fairly large, there was no complaining from our group of ladies-LOL.<br />
All paper is from Michaels, the patterened paper is from thier own Recollections line. I think the cardstock is Bazzill. Here is one of the pages, cute huh?<br />
The spoon and the mat in the bowl are not adhered to anything, this way if you wanted to write a recipe on it, you could take it out as needed to read it, and then return the mat to the bowl. The spoon was stamped with an older SU background woodgrain stamp.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RsrXh3KWwu0/UACO1uZa58I/AAAAAAAACLs/3o_hoUrj9pI/s1600/IMG_1377.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="304" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RsrXh3KWwu0/UACO1uZa58I/AAAAAAAACLs/3o_hoUrj9pI/s320/IMG_1377.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Some of the edges were dusted with Chalk ink for definition.<br />
The opposite page can hold many photos, recipes, kitchen notes, or a combination of all of those. Our group likes to do layouts that can hold several photos, so we oblige as much as possible.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ru9-8vSE65E/UACQEJUNkGI/AAAAAAAACL0/YZwE3qECmuM/s1600/IMG_1379.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="301" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ru9-8vSE65E/UACQEJUNkGI/AAAAAAAACL0/YZwE3qECmuM/s320/IMG_1379.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Stamps on this page are by Crafty Secrets. Twine is from the Twinery. I am not happy with the stapled looked of the tags, so I had the class use a hole punch on theirs. I will have to help mine along somehow.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This week has been so terribly hot, but we still managed to get a few sales in before we needed the AC. More things for TT to play with than much else, but we always have fun looking for our next treasure.<br />
First up- a Sing A MaJig! these weird little dolls are so cute. They sing when you press their belly or hand, and their mouth moves in a creepy way. TT says she doesnt like them, but always picks one up when she sees one. They were super popular around a year ago, so I got it for the bargain price of 50 cents!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cSSfKAwtaYI/T_jjgDkwE6I/AAAAAAAACKo/2RE5_Gdjr_g/s1600/IMG_0979.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cSSfKAwtaYI/T_jjgDkwE6I/AAAAAAAACKo/2RE5_Gdjr_g/s320/IMG_0979.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Next, a Peter Pan Barbie~ always adorable! 25 cents!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XRoxlP9aGX4/T_jkQoynj4I/AAAAAAAACKw/27KiQWXRft8/s1600/IMG_0980.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XRoxlP9aGX4/T_jkQoynj4I/AAAAAAAACKw/27KiQWXRft8/s320/IMG_0980.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Then we found minature wire stacking shelves. Big enough for cd's or other smaller stuff. They match the big ones already in TTs room. These were $1.50.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6ktLiPhzzL0/T_jkfPuq95I/AAAAAAAACK8/ghTZQ289jsU/s1600/IMG_0984.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6ktLiPhzzL0/T_jkfPuq95I/AAAAAAAACK8/ghTZQ289jsU/s320/IMG_0984.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
Now something for me- a pedometer, to help me count my steps (50 cents) and a pretty color long sleeve shirt for 25 cents. I also got an Ott Light that had not been used for $3.00. Its in the back of the first photo. I paid about $40.00 for mine when it was new.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3A-CxACYbMM/T_jk-37ou3I/AAAAAAAACLE/YpEWSQUEyfE/s1600/IMG_0978.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3A-CxACYbMM/T_jk-37ou3I/AAAAAAAACLE/YpEWSQUEyfE/s320/IMG_0978.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Lastly, an old metal candelabra that was $3.00. Im not sure yet what I will do with it, but I didnt want to pass it up. I sometimes see people on blogs that paint stuff like this pale pink, or a soft robins egg blue. So, it will have a new look sometime soon!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MBZyAjMdRNw/T_jmMC_T9EI/AAAAAAAACLM/NvxoedZdP6U/s1600/IMG_0983.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MBZyAjMdRNw/T_jmMC_T9EI/AAAAAAAACLM/NvxoedZdP6U/s320/IMG_0983.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

My little town of about 2800 people swells to about 40,000 this week. we have the biggest " 4th" parade in the state. Its really fun. We have a craft fair, food vendors. a 5k, art gallery shows, constant music on the waterfront stage... I could go on, but I will give you a few pictures.<br />

<br />
Well, you get the idea~<br />
There is also a naturalization ceremony, where yesterday, 117 people from 52 countries became citizens of the good ole USA!! A classic car show was also fun.<br />
BUT~~~~~~<br />
<br />
For me- this was the highlight of this years Fourth...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oBUi2_kyHYc/T_UXI-VTW1I/AAAAAAAACKU/TCUSE83fNY0/s1600/fergie+and+josh.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oBUi2_kyHYc/T_UXI-VTW1I/AAAAAAAACKU/TCUSE83fNY0/s320/fergie+and+josh.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Josh Duhamel and Fergie are in my little town!! He is here to film the Nicholas Sparks book Safehaven. Its set in Southport, and is being filmed here. He plays the male lead, and Julianne Hough plays the female lead. Its exciting to say the least! <br />
After the fireworks tonite, they came out of a little restaurant we were sitting near. Some people went - ok ran- over to say hello. I was one of them. They were friendly and said Hi and waved. Josh even said a few words to us. I Fergie sat on a motorcycle that was all done up for the holiday. I took her picture, but it was pretty blurry, as everything happened rather quickly, and my flash wasnt on, but here it is.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

She is right in the middle, with her back to me. Her husband Josh , is standing behind the guy in the patiotic hat. Fun!!! Hope you also enjoyed your day~<br />
Many thanks for stopping by...<br />

That also means needing ideas for end of year gifts for your childs favorite teacher.<br />
I am here to show you a quick and easy idea that is sure to please.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8PsIf4FvAVs/T9lVPF_UyjI/AAAAAAAACI8/FfzAjsdM35M/s1600/IMG_0861.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8PsIf4FvAVs/T9lVPF_UyjI/AAAAAAAACI8/FfzAjsdM35M/s320/IMG_0861.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
My daughter has 3 teachers/helpers that work in her room. So we needed 3 gifts. This idea is not my own, there are many different versions around blogland, but these are the ones I made up.<br />
They are the insulated drink holders that come with a lid and a straw. They are also useful and adorable!<br />
I had worked on a tag flag for them that had a picture and some color, but when I went to print them the nite before the gifts were going to school, my computer behaved very badly and would not let me print them. It was already late, so I had to come up with a plan 2, which was much more simple, but worked just fine.<br />
Its basically a flag about 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 made from designer paper that was the color of each cup. I just hand cut the flag on the end. The left side has 2 slits made with my x-acto knife, wide enough for the straw to fit thru. The sentiment is computer generated. Notice the spelling of TEAcher~ as that is what is inside the cups!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6t0JRwqsDFE/T9lWd6i1JAI/AAAAAAAACJE/-ZUkS6ttdCQ/s1600/IMG_0857.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6t0JRwqsDFE/T9lWd6i1JAI/AAAAAAAACJE/-ZUkS6ttdCQ/s320/IMG_0857.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This flag went on the other 2 cups~ for the helpers in the class. Had I realized the troubles I was going to have a bit earlier~ I would have colored these in by hand, and tried to stamp something tiny on them somewhere. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QV3GFeoUIKE/T9lXWRNSwRI/AAAAAAAACJQ/2Fb1CQ4S66Q/s1600/IMG_0856.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QV3GFeoUIKE/T9lXWRNSwRI/AAAAAAAACJQ/2Fb1CQ4S66Q/s320/IMG_0856.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Here they are all together. And ready to go.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1ipy249aPuU/T9lX5o7TQHI/AAAAAAAACJY/f3n-DJR9eGs/s1600/IMG_0855.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1ipy249aPuU/T9lX5o7TQHI/AAAAAAAACJY/f3n-DJR9eGs/s320/IMG_0855.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I filled the cups with these little drink packages from Lipton Tea. I also made a thank you card, theresa wrote in it and we put it in the middle of the cup. The little tea packs go around it on the outside, this way they stand up like tall little soldiers.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mlnw2La1VaY/T9lYJXYmE5I/AAAAAAAACJg/cMp8wZh1vAk/s1600/IMG_0860.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mlnw2La1VaY/T9lYJXYmE5I/AAAAAAAACJg/cMp8wZh1vAk/s320/IMG_0860.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
Hope you are all looking forward to a good summer like we are!<br />

HAHA. Today, I had to fly solo as my husband had to work for someone who injured thier arm this week. But he sweetly mapped out my route for me so I wouldnt get lost. <br />
About a year ago, I started collecting (like I need another collection of anything!!) vintage planters that you would give to a new mom. I love the soft pastel colors and sweetness of them. This little chic is adorable! She was $2.00.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bZbZ25c04Ek/T9QHQCLK8VI/AAAAAAAACHw/T9MB74RkGa8/s1600/IMG_0869.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bZbZ25c04Ek/T9QHQCLK8VI/AAAAAAAACHw/T9MB74RkGa8/s320/IMG_0869.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I also got 2 matching gravy boats for 50 cents each. They will be nice to put on each end of the table, because the gravy is never near the person that needs it!<br />
Also in the photo are a set of 6 napkins with asian figures embroidered on them~ so cute. $3.00.<br />
A wine stopper in its box was $1.00 and it has an ice bucket with wine bottles in it. Some fancy toothpicks , also new were 50 cents~ Bob loves toothpicks, but I wil save these for a party, or little sandwiches.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MczdXRKgmBA/T9QH_Fz4LrI/AAAAAAAACH8/JLaUFLnIIxU/s1600/IMG_0871.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MczdXRKgmBA/T9QH_Fz4LrI/AAAAAAAACH8/JLaUFLnIIxU/s320/IMG_0871.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mR3BZ_6laO8/T9QJdkrxdoI/AAAAAAAACIE/Oin2Nu98980/s1600/IMG_0872.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mR3BZ_6laO8/T9QJdkrxdoI/AAAAAAAACIE/Oin2Nu98980/s320/IMG_0872.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I have wanted one of these for awhile. It was my big splurge~ $5.00. But its brand new and the ticket on it is $20.00.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ywLBKK8rHZY/T9QJqZkdRRI/AAAAAAAACIM/FN-t7ae7qDc/s1600/IMG_0873.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ywLBKK8rHZY/T9QJqZkdRRI/AAAAAAAACIM/FN-t7ae7qDc/s320/IMG_0873.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
One of the yard sales were giving away free aloe plants. Theirs had gotten so big, they divided the shoots up into many small plants.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nc7LJR3ICmA/T9QKMn4GIRI/AAAAAAAACIU/yencOa5cams/s1600/IMG_0877.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nc7LJR3ICmA/T9QKMn4GIRI/AAAAAAAACIU/yencOa5cams/s320/IMG_0877.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here it is all planted.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AY5LjLJtlcU/T9QLC_zqgcI/AAAAAAAACIg/y6qKa-xYVUc/s1600/IMG_0878.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AY5LjLJtlcU/T9QLC_zqgcI/AAAAAAAACIg/y6qKa-xYVUc/s320/IMG_0878.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lastly, I came across this Primary School Diploma from 1925. Its so pretty, and in wonderful shape for being almost 90 years old! It was originally marked $15, but then it was scratched out and they wrote in $1.00. You know that had to come home with me!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mDSv0-A8B3s/T9QLTlQTuFI/AAAAAAAACIo/LBSRICf0I-k/s1600/IMG_0874.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mDSv0-A8B3s/T9QLTlQTuFI/AAAAAAAACIo/LBSRICf0I-k/s320/IMG_0874.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here is a close up of the beautiful illustration~<br />
<br />

Hope you also enjoyed your Saturday.<br />

<br />Theresa Dagostino Forgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15923460546721715999noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7975741520881483082.post-29916719729821056342012-06-07T23:30:00.000-04:002012-06-07T23:30:08.521-04:00You can make your own Sponge Daubers!!We all like to use them to add some color to a scrapbook layout, a card edge, or to add different inks to a stamp. But the cost can add up quickly, especially when the companies tell you to have a seperate one for each color ink.<br />
My friend Sharon- OKI Stamp Queen saw how to make some homemade daubers on a blog. She then made several which we used in our last class. It inspired me to make my own one afternoon. They are super easy to do. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a42spGBgwMI/T9FtFdkvHnI/AAAAAAAACGk/N2m2RLBt9mM/s1600/IMG_0613.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a42spGBgwMI/T9FtFdkvHnI/AAAAAAAACGk/N2m2RLBt9mM/s320/IMG_0613.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
But you need to know someone with a table saw (thanks hubby!).<br />
The above photo is a finished one! Isnt it cute? Much nicer looking than the the ones you buy for $1+ each!<br />
The photo below has the pieces after they were cut. You need a length of pvc pipe. Lowes or Home Depot carry this and its cheap, only a couple dollars for a long piece that will make a ton of these. My husband had a piece laying around, yours might too! Its about an inch in diameter, and he cut it about an inch and a half tall. Since his blade is nice and sharp, they needed no sanding. The cut edges are nice and smooth. If yours are not, you will need to do some sanding till they feel somewhat smooth. They dont have to be super smooth, just enough not to feel uncomfortable when you're using them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-P3RhnmDw-2w/T9FtrMgL9OI/AAAAAAAACGs/MNC4-SIywGE/s1600/IMG_0611.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-P3RhnmDw-2w/T9FtrMgL9OI/AAAAAAAACGs/MNC4-SIywGE/s320/IMG_0611.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then, to make them look pretty, take a sheet of scrapbook paper and cut it to fit the size of your pieces of pvc. You then will apply the paper to the pvc with some Mod Podge on a small brush. Since these are small, it goes pretty quickly.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rAcEFkGce4E/T9FvBiBRS8I/AAAAAAAACG0/rr3_aZdIT5M/s1600/IMG_0612.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rAcEFkGce4E/T9FvBiBRS8I/AAAAAAAACG0/rr3_aZdIT5M/s320/IMG_0612.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Continue until all are covered. You could even make them in different colors to match the ink colors you will be using.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rbXXmFtCgMk/T9Fv8jErs0I/AAAAAAAACG8/Nf7KD3q1Dvw/s1600/IMG_0614.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rbXXmFtCgMk/T9Fv8jErs0I/AAAAAAAACG8/Nf7KD3q1Dvw/s320/IMG_0614.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
While they are drying, you need to go to your dollar store and buy a bag of makeup sponges. One bag will be plenty. I cut mine in half and then you just push the sponge thru the little tube until it makes a dome shape~ like the one in the first photo.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fP3V5nhx3J8/T9FwJXeMFtI/AAAAAAAACHE/n0RDn-P-Wc4/s1600/IMG_0610.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fP3V5nhx3J8/T9FwJXeMFtI/AAAAAAAACHE/n0RDn-P-Wc4/s320/IMG_0610.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
All done!! My one piece of pipe made about 40? of these. Now to start using them.<br />
Many thanks for stopping by...Theresa Dagostino Forgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15923460546721715999noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7975741520881483082.post-88897275837894950592012-06-02T18:00:00.000-04:002012-06-02T18:00:05.996-04:00Yard Sale SaturdayMy husband and I love to go to yard sales on saturday mornings. We look forward to it each week. I would much rather go to yard sales than the mall. Same with thrift and consignment stores. There is something in the thrill of the hunt that I just love! Finding something that doesnt have 20 more just like it on the same rack. Ans since we live in a warm climate, we get to go to them pretty much all year. Yipee!!<br />
At one point I had started a blog feature called Yard Sale Satuday. I am bringing it back starting now. Hope you like it.<br />
These were todays finds. We were surprised that there were not more sales around, but we scored some nice things~ and for little money.<br />
First up- an adorable sailboat with a flat back. Its about a foot high. I bought it with the intention of using it in the middle of a wreath for my front door. But after I got it in the car, I realized it is much too nice to get beat up by the sun and other weather we have here. So I will hang it in the house somewhere.<br />
Price--$1.00!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-K1EAcCk0MRA/T8olriPS01I/AAAAAAAACF8/zBYANfQBvXE/s1600/IMG_0849.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-K1EAcCk0MRA/T8olriPS01I/AAAAAAAACF8/zBYANfQBvXE/s320/IMG_0849.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Next. a glass fish plate. This guy is big, and heavy, made from a nice glass. I can picture all kinds of things being served on him. He will do well on my screened porch when we have people over.<br />
His price-- also only $1.00~<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5BkOAS-7z88/T8omPBeHPZI/AAAAAAAACGE/LgL6Gcl1fyk/s1600/IMG_0850.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5BkOAS-7z88/T8omPBeHPZI/AAAAAAAACGE/LgL6Gcl1fyk/s320/IMG_0850.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The next item is more of something I needed, rather than a fun purchase. Kind of scary, at least for me! My other one was digital, and was kept too close to the shower. Water ruined it rather quickly.<br />
Again-- only $1.00!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qt4C4WDT2tg/T8om9Rcg57I/AAAAAAAACGM/MdHw5KqFpaY/s1600/IMG_0851.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qt4C4WDT2tg/T8om9Rcg57I/AAAAAAAACGM/MdHw5KqFpaY/s320/IMG_0851.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Lastly. we found this very nice serving dish for relish, pickles, candies, I guess anything small. I like that the 4 sections are all separate. That makes it easy to fill and refill them. Usually it is plastic and all one big piece. This glass is also heavy and the wicker tray is really sturdy.<br />
This was our expensive item-- $2.00!!<br />
<br />

<br />
Thats it for today. Pretty good day, I would say. After we are done- unless we have bought many things, we go out for breakfast. Just us 2, kids stay home. Its kinda like our date nite- but its on Sat. morning. Wonder what next week will bring?<br />
Many thanks for stopping by...<br />

I have been doing a whole buunch of things, and I apologize for neglecting my blog. One of my more recent posts had been about redoing TT's room. Since some people have been looking for an update (hi Mimi!) I decided that would be this post. Although her room is not all finished, its 90 percent there. We still need curtains of some sort- nothing too heavy. We will also be mounting her TV onto the wall, but for now its on her dresser. But enough of that- here are some pics!<br />
<br />
Welcome to Theresa Laurens New Room!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vAMj_02WuWY/T8l6-7DGLFI/AAAAAAAACD0/i-YfzrpsDeI/s1600/IMG_0847.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vAMj_02WuWY/T8l6-7DGLFI/AAAAAAAACD0/i-YfzrpsDeI/s320/IMG_0847.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Her Bedding is what created the theme. She loves sugar skulls, pirate skulls, and all that kind of stuff.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had ordered a whole different set which was more of a patchwork quilt type of thing from JC Penneys. The color scheme was the same, and it was very pretty. Then one nite, Im looking for sheets, and get to Bed Bath and Beyond. I see this set here, and knew we had to have it. The only thing was it was out of stock, and #2- it was $189.00!!! That was out of my budget, especially since we already had the other set. I was determined to find it somewhere else, and after much searching, found it at Overstock for ------ $less than $60.00!!! Are you kidding me?? What a differnce in price. I quickly ordered it, but decided not to tell TT about it. I would keep this a surprise till the big reveal.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XIwpSvTZ2rc/T8l7W1Xj7LI/AAAAAAAACD8/n4sdM1dOero/s1600/IMG_0816.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XIwpSvTZ2rc/T8l7W1Xj7LI/AAAAAAAACD8/n4sdM1dOero/s320/IMG_0816.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then there was her wall art name. I sent away for that back in January. We love it!! Its actually quite big, and makes a nice statement.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The chair is from our screen porch. I sprayed it white, it was a beige/natural color. I used 5 cans of spray paint. I wanted it to look really white. We now need to find a nice cushion for the seat part and the back. For now the old one is on there.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
These hot pink wire shelves were new in the box and came from a local thrift store. They were $8.00. When we get tired of them, they can go in her closet for extra storage. But for now, they look nice under the window.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

They came out so pretty, it can become addicting!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SsbA0vyg0Xs/T5MASZADrqI/AAAAAAAACDY/OXrJFRcJ7Kc/s1600/IMG_0604.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SsbA0vyg0Xs/T5MASZADrqI/AAAAAAAACDY/OXrJFRcJ7Kc/s320/IMG_0604.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Isnt it beautiful?? This time I just used reinkers from Stampin Up to dye with. They did a good job. The colors dried quite a bit lighter than they looked when wet. And they all have a bit of a variegated tone to them. It makes them look vintagey- (if thats a word?).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o-opVdFAQvI/T5MA7GHTikI/AAAAAAAACDg/0yHVi9fNlNQ/s1600/IMG_0603.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o-opVdFAQvI/T5MA7GHTikI/AAAAAAAACDg/0yHVi9fNlNQ/s320/IMG_0603.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The colors I used are (clockwise from upper left) Pixie Pink, Summer Sun,Tangerine Tango, Ballet Blue,Certainly Celery, Melon Mambo, and the little piece is Soft Sky.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-69goHB2-n4Q/T5MBnKPPXhI/AAAAAAAACDo/BVz_cIZOYkw/s1600/IMG_0605.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-69goHB2-n4Q/T5MBnKPPXhI/AAAAAAAACDo/BVz_cIZOYkw/s320/IMG_0605.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
My only other supplies were the beige craft mat, but you can use wax paper if you dont have a mat, a spray bottle with plain water, and a pair of latex gloves. Plus of course some white seam binding.<br />
Cut a length of ribbon you desire, mist it with water, place a few drops on your craft mat along with a drop or two or three of ink, smoosh it around with your gloved hand, and then add the ribbon. Rub it around in the dye till it all looks covered. Next step is to crush the ribbon in your hand to give it that crinkled, old look, and lay out to air dry. You can speed that up with a heat gun if you want to.<br />
And thats it!!! Look forward to seeing these ribbons on future creations! Its a great way to use up reinkers that you may not have the ink pad to anymore.<br />
Many thanks for stopping by...<br />

Its Friday!Happy Friday everyone- even thought it is Friday the Thirteenth. Alot has been going on around here this week- except for stamping. Its Spring break week, so we have been doing some family things. For one, Theresa Lauren is getting a new room. She will be moving across the hall to her brothers room. He lives in NYC and she has had her eye on that room for some time. She picked out a really pretty, bright pink. Her old room is lavendar. Here is a preview:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NvWdzCuyGpk/T4hdBcV1u6I/AAAAAAAACDA/EtmqFL6vuUs/s1600/IMG_0446.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NvWdzCuyGpk/T4hdBcV1u6I/AAAAAAAACDA/EtmqFL6vuUs/s320/IMG_0446.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Her Dad even worked on Easter to get this done soon!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Fosskh0nIWM/T4hdPOcHHTI/AAAAAAAACDI/LUTfsOpF478/s1600/IMG_0448.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Fosskh0nIWM/T4hdPOcHHTI/AAAAAAAACDI/LUTfsOpF478/s320/IMG_0448.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
Next up- haircut time. Anyone who knows TT, knows she does not like having her hair touched in any way. So the beauty parlor has never been her favorite place. Since her haircut is pretty straighforward, I thought I would do it myself. We set up a chair in the driveway, wet down her hair, and put on a cape just the hairdressers. It went very well, and I saved $15.00. Theresa got a new summer look, and a chocolate milkshake out of the deal. Winners all around.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cB-5gfkCp1o/T4heVEGWFhI/AAAAAAAACDQ/IEPA__N8n3I/s1600/IMG_0496z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cB-5gfkCp1o/T4heVEGWFhI/AAAAAAAACDQ/IEPA__N8n3I/s320/IMG_0496z.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
I think she looks great!<br />
We also went to the Circus, but Ill save that for tomorrow!<br />
Many thanks for sropping by...Theresa Dagostino Forgehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15923460546721715999noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7975741520881483082.post-33616901573189285742012-04-03T10:44:00.001-04:002012-04-03T10:46:54.023-04:00Jacquelines Birthday CardAnother birthday card, and all for the same family! This time the card is for my niece Jackie. She turned 10 this weekend~ OMG!!!! She is adorable and gets prettier each time I see her. So I chose a beautiful little fairy for her card.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BsMHUA0WFSk/T3sKrYuvwRI/AAAAAAAACCo/lvbsnUM9Djs/s1600/IMG_0346.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BsMHUA0WFSk/T3sKrYuvwRI/AAAAAAAACCo/lvbsnUM9Djs/s320/IMG_0346.JPG" width="288" /></a></div><br />
See what I mean? This card is so pretty in real life. Her wings are colored in and then sprinkled with glitter. This is a digi image from A Day For Daisies. They have a wonderful selction of line drawn girly type of images. Right up my alley!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N7qrodxXBlk/T3sLOxi1DDI/AAAAAAAACCw/qaIcZJGsE1k/s1600/IMG_0348.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N7qrodxXBlk/T3sLOxi1DDI/AAAAAAAACCw/qaIcZJGsE1k/s320/IMG_0348.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Sentiment is again from MFT. I am lovin the big sizes of these sentiments. The paper is from a new collection in a pad from Me and My Big Ideas. I do not see a name on the pad, other than the company name, but I just purchased it in April from either Michaels or A.C.Moore. I liked the paper so much I did not want to cover most of it with the image, so that is why I mounted the image on a pink piece of cardstock and then carefully trimmed around it. Popped it up and it looks great!<br />
The ribbon is Martha Stewart, and the punch I used is from Stampin Up.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-REMEOvM1_44/T3sMitflYvI/AAAAAAAACC4/ampgvq69aeA/s1600/IMG_0355.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-REMEOvM1_44/T3sMitflYvI/AAAAAAAACC4/ampgvq69aeA/s320/IMG_0355.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
The inside was kept clean and simple, again with MFT sentiments. The fairy was colored with Copics. Button was in my stash.<br />

Like most kids his age, he loves Angry Birds, so I decided to make him one for his card.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aMPAWgDZa4U/T3UW_6pLKLI/AAAAAAAACA8/OaeClOR0cWY/s1600/IMG_0340.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aMPAWgDZa4U/T3UW_6pLKLI/AAAAAAAACA8/OaeClOR0cWY/s320/IMG_0340.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Looks pretty angry to me!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bB_295u28_I/T3UXNPz9C_I/AAAAAAAACBE/jMoxuIV4csk/s1600/IMG_0337.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bB_295u28_I/T3UXNPz9C_I/AAAAAAAACBE/jMoxuIV4csk/s320/IMG_0337.JPG" width="241" /></a></div><br />
There are many versions of this guy on just about everyones blog, so I looked at some of them, and came up with my version. He is a big bird, as I wanted him to be the focal point of the card without other distractions. Little boys dont want the bows and glitter anyhow.<br />
He is made with punches and nestabilities. I just kinda eyeballed it for size, and made some adjustments along the way. Here is some of what I did.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Abuz8yqlEdw/T3UYHVD4vdI/AAAAAAAACBM/DpcU5FlP49c/s1600/IMG_0332.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Abuz8yqlEdw/T3UYHVD4vdI/AAAAAAAACBM/DpcU5FlP49c/s320/IMG_0332.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I cut 2 large circles, one in SU Real Red, and the other in a beige/kraft type of color.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LrBO5LHHsYM/T3UYaZgSlgI/AAAAAAAACBU/HvqdXdmrM44/s1600/IMG_0333.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LrBO5LHHsYM/T3UYaZgSlgI/AAAAAAAACBU/HvqdXdmrM44/s320/IMG_0333.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Then put the red one back into the Big Shot, and with the same circle, cut off a portion on the bottom. This can also be done with punches, but your bird wont be as big. I glued the beige and red pieces together.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GYmR2TSbxY4/T3UY4QHgaYI/AAAAAAAACBc/8LYcxBhncMA/s1600/IMG_0330.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GYmR2TSbxY4/T3UY4QHgaYI/AAAAAAAACBc/8LYcxBhncMA/s320/IMG_0330.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
These are many- but not all - of the punches I used. I took some red scrap, (the piece I cut off the bottom) and cut a heart for his little feathers. I cut the heart all the way on the left of the punch.<br />
The I cut 2 white circles- that is a 1 inch punch, for his eyes.With the little orange punch I cut 2 black circles for his pupils. I also cut 2 black pieces from the Modern Label punch for his eyebrows.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Fa4DjDCcrZ8/T3UZ9IosC-I/AAAAAAAACBk/PwygQfLR7cM/s1600/IMG_0331.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Fa4DjDCcrZ8/T3UZ9IosC-I/AAAAAAAACBk/PwygQfLR7cM/s320/IMG_0331.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I cut 2 squares from School Bus Yellow (retired) CS. they are about an inch and inch and a half? Cut both of these on the diagonal, and thats how his beak is made.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-snRfUr6x1yE/T3UaXQl58fI/AAAAAAAACBs/iIkyeL_7rfM/s1600/IMG_0334.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-snRfUr6x1yE/T3UaXQl58fI/AAAAAAAACBs/iIkyeL_7rfM/s320/IMG_0334.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Here are the 2 Modern Label punched pieces. I had to trim about 1/4 of them off.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dw5Qp4Gvukw/T3UaoxHK1XI/AAAAAAAACB0/x9L4NJMkR_o/s1600/IMG_0335.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dw5Qp4Gvukw/T3UaoxHK1XI/AAAAAAAACB0/x9L4NJMkR_o/s320/IMG_0335.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I chalked the edges of the red pieces and the yellow beak in their respective colors. You dont want to see a whole lot of color, just a bit of definition.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qjxiAJc9lY8/T3UbCTaKolI/AAAAAAAACB8/_GBLVByw0UA/s1600/IMG_0329.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qjxiAJc9lY8/T3UbCTaKolI/AAAAAAAACB8/_GBLVByw0UA/s320/IMG_0329.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Here are the 2 I made before they were cards. I think the top one looks a little more angry-LOL!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aFPJlJ9xiPU/T3Ucd41wTaI/AAAAAAAACCU/NHTn6_lJAoQ/s1600/IMG_0338.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aFPJlJ9xiPU/T3Ucd41wTaI/AAAAAAAACCU/NHTn6_lJAoQ/s320/IMG_0338.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I took some blue patterned paper for the sky, and lastly, used a MFT Grass Die and cut out 3 strips of green grass. They are staggered and popped up to look a little more like a "lawn".<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JnLJA_vugUE/T3UdAMY8jhI/AAAAAAAACCc/b3dE6hl8uxc/s1600/IMG_0342.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JnLJA_vugUE/T3UdAMY8jhI/AAAAAAAACCc/b3dE6hl8uxc/s320/IMG_0342.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The inside of the card has its own strip of green grass. The sentiments are from MFT. Sorry I cut it off a bit. But the card reads, "Its your big day", stamped on an angle, and "Happy Birthday". Both are stamped in "Pacific Point" SU ink.<br />
Many thanks for stopping by to see my version of the famous bird. Hope you liked it. MaryBeth, I hope you dont see this till after Mathews party. Here comes one. My Brother In Law John had a birthday the end of February. I kind of struggle with Masculine cards, as I love bows, flowers and ruffles. And pink, and glitter. But having said that~ I think this one came out pretty good. I was quite pleased at the end result.<br />

The stamp set is a retired Stampin Up set that I really like. Its called "Set Sail" and I think it was first released in 2004? I did not even know about SU then. I purchased this one on Ebay years later.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3nYxwzJPTfw/T24WUQCPTLI/AAAAAAAACAs/1zTBTh8x9ZY/s1600/IMG_0320.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3nYxwzJPTfw/T24WUQCPTLI/AAAAAAAACAs/1zTBTh8x9ZY/s320/IMG_0320.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
This is the inside of the card. The row of boats is from the same set. The sentiments on the front and inside the card are from a current SU set called "Perfectly Penned". I love the font they used on this set. There are 4 sentiments in the set.<br />
<br />

The papers are from my scrap drawers. There is always some awesome paper in there. That must come from my hoarding tendencies. I love paper and hate to get rid of any. I liked the card so much, I made this one. Almost the same, but the image and background is straight compared to the above version, where its tilted. I used green twine, and Chocolate Chip ink form SU.<br />
