BABY GIRL CARD

Hey everybody!! This is the card I made to go with the baby books from the last post. I made only 2 of these, though. The 3rd card will be different when the time comes. Its my current favorite style of card- the 6" by 6" easel card.
I will however most likely use this same adorable little bunny for card #3. She is from a Verve Stamp set from last spring called Practically Perfect.
The whole set is just so cute for both boy or girl babies. The little boy bunny is wearing a bow tie. I used Liquid Pearls for her necklace, and SU's Crystal Effects for her bow. She is colored with my Copic Markers, and cut with nestabilities. Nanas Nursery is the paper. Celery Ribbon is from SU. I stamped her twice, cut her out and popped her up for some dimension.
These 2 sentiments are from the newer Papertrey set Inside and Out Baby.

Have to keep this post a bit short today, as my my daughter is not feeling well. She came home early yesterday with some sort of stomach virus which seems to be going around here.
Now my Husband just called from work saying he is also not feeling well. Oh, where is Spring???

GOOD THINGS COME IN THREES~

From this....... To this.....
Three family members are all expecting little girls around now. So I decided to make all three the same book to go with their other gifts for baby. Its a book that Sharon taught in our class last month. I was also supposed to be there and help, but was stuck up in the mountains in a snowstorm. She did wonderful without me, and so did all the ladies.
What they made was a push me pull you book. You may have seen them around blogland ( my favorite destination!) and now you get to see my version. It is a four fold, and each section has a top and bottom pull out for photos or journaling.

I have also decided to add a ribbon closure to mine, as I thought this was a pretty touch.
No stamping here, but pretty just the same. I used my fav go- to paper for baby stuff- Nana's Nursery from DCWV. I have both the boy and girl versions and use them quite a bit. Usually when I buy one of these "stacks" of paper, I use it once or twice, and then it just takes up room in my art studio. But not this time.
Martha Stewart puunches were used. Seam binding and sheer polka dot ribbons, prima flowers and lots of baby themed embellishments, all of which I had in my stash.

Some more views of the inside, although I now realized I did not photograph them with the pull out pages visible. Sorry. When making baby books, I leave alot of room for photos, as all new parents love to see how different the babies look from one picture to another. I let their adorable little faces become the stars of the book.
Noww off to mail them to Colorado and Oklahoma.

Happy Anniversary!!!! TO ME~

Yesterday my Husband and I celebrated our #7th wedding anniversary~ Time seems to be whizzing by and we are enjoying every minute of it. We always go to a local restaurant for dinner each year. It is housed in an old fishing cottage that is 100+ years old. The furniture is lots of mix and match antiques, and the food is always superb. The same place each time, an anniversary tradition for us- although this year we had to shift gears a bit. We got dressed up, drove there, and saw it was all dark. My husband got out of the car and read a sign on the door that said they were closed due to inclement weather.
We were really bummed for a minute~ but then decided to make lemonade and try somewhere new. It is also a restaurant in our little town, but we had never eaten there before.
All ended well as we had a wonderful dinner, good wine, and lots of laughs. Anyhow, onto my card. This was the anniversary card I made for my DH. I had seen something somewhere that used this stamp from Unity and put a chipboard "U" in it. I used that great idea and came up with this card. I am very pleased with the way it came out, and my husband really liked it.
The red cardstock was from my stash and had little embossed hearts all over it~ how perfect! The card is a 6 by 6". Its matted with black SU cardstock and stamped with Real Red from SU. Chipboard letter was colored with Copics and glittered with Martha Stewart red glitter.
White scrap was punched with a Martha Stewart punch, as were the hearts on the inside. I used my last piece of black plaid ribbon purchased at Michaels for the bow.

Makeup For The Weekend #14

Hi everyone!! Hope you all had a great weekend! This weekend I decided to play with PaperMakeup Stamps and participate in their challenge. I own some of their adorable stamps~ the fairies being my favorite!, so when I saw the colors of this weeks challenge it was a no brainer.
A gorgeous color scheme and an adorable new fairy named Isabella is where I began my card.
How beautiful is this bedroom? I would love it to be mine~ Here is my take on the challenge. I took the polka dot theme and made my own on the robins egg paper with some aqua ink, and the polka dots on the black paper were already there. That paper is from Paper Pizzazz.
I stamped Isabella on Gina K pure Luxury paper with Memento Black Ink. She is colored with Copics, and then her wings are glittered, and now all sparkly~ Cut out with Nesties, and matted twice with black, and then shimmer scallops. The black was cut with a Martha Stewart punch. White satin ribbon from my stash is tied into a bow.
The great sentiment is also from PMS stamps, and goes perfectly with this image to me.

The card is made on a 6 by 6 black base which is Stampin Up cardstock.
I am sorry for this not-so-great photo, but my cameras softwear has seemed to magically disappear from my computer. So no cropping this time. Sometimes my DH helps??? me by cleaning up the computer. He might have thought this program was from an old camera. Otherwise- it had just vanished into the nite~

Any Foodies Out There?

I know, I know, this is supposed to be a papercrafts blog ~ but I have 2 good reasons to make this post!
One of them is, I am not very quick when it comes to creating. I need to take my time and think things out, or I am never happy with the results. I am currently working on "3" baby girl books at the same time. My 2 stepdaughters and their cousin are all welcoming little girls into the family, so rather than do one at at time, I am doing all 3. More to come on those in the next post.
More importantly, this is what I made for dinner the other nite!! It is a Greek Gyro, but made with meatballs, as I dont have a vertical rotisserie. They are called Keftedes.
They remind of a woman I worked for when I was doing home visits as a nurse. She was an older Greek lady, and although she couldnt cook anymore, we used to sit and talk about all the wonderful Greek dishes she used to make. Keftedes were one of her favorites. So when I saw this recipe, I had to try it.
There is a wonderful blog called Nook and Pantry.blogspot.com and thats where I got this recipe. It is simple and delicious! The meat is half ground beef and half ground lamb. My husband doesnt like lamb, but as it is such a big part of Greek cooking (and Gyros) we could not omit it. And he loved these! Then its just some onions, tomatos and lettuce cut up. Fresh dill, and Tzatziki sauce. Combine all this on flatbreads and there is your dinner!
The recipe made 20 plus meatballs which was enough for us to have dinner, lunch the next day, and a few for the freezer. If you like Greek food, especially Gyro, go over to Nook and Pantry and give this recipe a try. You wont be disappointed! Heres to you Ethel!

A TRIP TO THE MOUNTAINS

This past week my daughter and I took Michael back to school up in Boone, NC. The weather and the terrain is about as opposite as you can get from our part of the state. We leave in the most southeastern region you can get and still be in the state. Our land is flat, the temperature warm and the beach at your doorstep. We dont even own boots, mittens or hats.
The school, on the other hand, is up high in the mountains, very cold most of the time, and there is LOTS of snow!! When we were there, the temp hovered around 21 degrees. BRRR...
But growing up in NY, where snow was part of winter, seeing it was kind of nostalgic. I liked it. The cold I could do without, but snow is so pretty unless you have to drive in it. Here are some photos of our hotel. We stay here every time we are in Boone. TT is sitting in the lobby, waiting to go back out in the snow.
Here she is by the huge stone fireplace. The fire is always on, and there are comfy chairs and computers there, along with a big screen TV.

This is in front of the hotel. Thank goodness for snow plows.

Michael decided to stay in an apartment this year, rather than the dorms. After what seemed like endless searching, we were very lucky to get this place as a sublease till summer.
Here is the living room. It comes fully furnished, and has alarms, sprinklers and is nice and warm.

This view shows the kitchen and eating area from the living room. The far room in the background is Michaels room.
The door in the kitchen is to their own laundry room. He shares this apartment with one roomate, whose room is on the opposite side than his.

A big screen TV and Michael in his room putting stuff away.

Inside view of the laundry area. Alot better than having to go to the laundromat in the snow. And no coins to save!!

This is inside Michaels room. Theresa is watching his TV while we set things up.
He also has a private bathroom in his room, with a full shower.

A kitchen shot after we went grocery shopping.

This is the view from the stairway up to his second floor apartment.
Thats my car on the left. It had never been in snow before...
It was sooo dirty when we got home, I took it straight to the carwash.
And lastly, a photo looking towards the building. Pretty nice, huh?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

First I would like to wish all of you a very happy new year!!! May it be productive, happy and healthy~
My sister has a holiday birthday, so I thought it would be fitting to show you all this card today. Although made as a birthday card, it could just as well be a great New Year card, girls nite out, or bachelorette party card. Its a digi stamp (I'll get back you on the maker)~ I have made an easel style card again, with DCWV cardstock, and lots of unknown patterened paper.
She is colored with Copics, and her lips and drink are done in Stampin Ups Crystal Effects. I love how her full lips look so much more "pouty" when shined up. The ribbon is may arts.
Sentiments are from Print Works and Rubber Soul. The pretty little flourish stamps on the inside are from Waltzingmouse Stamps. Flowers are prima. Crystals, unknown.
Doily Lace punch is Martha Stewart.
My sisters favorite drink is a blueberry martini, and that is why the drink has a light blue tinge to it.
She recently came over and made us a pitcher, and boy are they good. The blueberry vodka smells delicious!
I also love the sour mix added to it, as sweet/ salty or sweet/tart are my very fav combos!!! The rimmed sugar around the glass is icing on the cake.

Many thanks for stopping by, and here's a toast to a great New Year!!!!!!!!
